As you probably know,
there are hundreds of network marketing (MLM) companies to
choose from. All of them want you, and all of them
will have compelling reasons why they are the best. I
am now going to tell you what sets AIM apart from almost all
others, and I will not be just spouting lies--I actually
believe strongly in the information that I am about to tell
you.
If you are a professional
network marketer, you will already know much of what I am
about to say. However, if you are new to the concept
of MLM, this information will be invaluable as you look for
a company.
Risk vs. Reward
I have spent years trying to find ways to earn large amounts
of money without risk. It is not possible! When
someone says that they have such an opportunity for you,
watch out! In MLM, there is a very simple way to
determine how much risk is associated with a company.
The factor that you need to look at is simply how long the
company has been in business.
Did you know that over
90% of all MLM companies go out of business within 3 years?
You might have been approached by someone in a new MLM who
told you that it is easier to make big money if you get in
at the first level (i.e. join a new MLM). This fact is
true. However, what you need to know is that the chance of
that money staying around for more than a few years is very
minimal.
AIM has been in business
since 1982, and perhaps more importantly, their top selling
product is STILL the same product that they first marketed.
That fact says volumes about the company and its products.
The company is debt-free, and has never been late with its
commission checks.
The Products
For a company to be legitimate, it must have at least one
product that is legitimate and has value. Sadly, many
MLM's sell a compensation plan instead of a product.
They have products, but their distributors know that selling
products is secondary to signing people up. The
product itself is either grossly overpriced or inferior.
I could start mentioning such companies, but you probably
already have one or two in your mind.
It is imperative that a
MLM company's products be of excellent quality and they must
be competitive in price. This is easier said than
done, because MLM is an expensive marketing model for a
company to adopt. The average non-MLM company might
budget anywhere from 30-50% of its revenue for advertising,
but an MLM company pays out up to 60% to its distributors.
The commission checks are its advertising costs.
AIM is very unique in
that it sells top quality products at competitive prices.
For example, Barleylife competes with Green Magma, a very
similar product that is retailed in stores. However, a
5.3 oz jar of Green Magma normally sells for the same retail
price as a 7 oz jar of Barleylife. It is also fairly
easy to demonstrate that Barleylife is a superior product.
AIM products are
carefully researched and developed by expert scientists and
physicians. Academic studies have been done on AIM
products that add enormous credibility to their value.
And AIM distributors have collected thousands of
testimonials that prove the case that AIM products improve
the health of people every day!
The Company
It really should be obvious that if a
company has been around for twenty years, it has a good,
competitive product, and it is a honest, well-run company.
However, I want to discuss this point because I have been
very impressed with what I have seen in some MLM companies
and AIM in particular.
It is no secret that MLM
has a bad reputation with some people. This is largely
due to the problems that I have already discussed. If
a company does not have a legitimate product, it is not
really a MLM at all, but is a pyramid scheme. The
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regularly steps in and shuts
such companies down.
However, I have been
impressed with the business ethics of several MLM companies
and AIM in particular. AIM has always been absolutely
first class in my relationships with them, and is
professional in every sense of the word. Their
distributors will tell you that AIM genuinely cares about
them. I have never worked with any company, MLM or
non-MLM, that demonstrated more professionalism and class.
The Compensation Plan
If you are interested in joining a MLM to make money, the
compensation plan is important. Having studied
different plans and types of plans, I can make some general
recommendations. First, there are thousands of
different variations, but they all fit into one of about six
basic plans.
Every company claims to
have the best plan, but in reality, no plan can be best in
all areas. Some plans will allow distributors to make
money quickly while others are designed for long-term
income. Some plans reward retailing while others
encourage you do develop depth in your downline. A
compensation plan really should fit your personality more
than anything. If you expect to do a lot of retailing,
some compensation plans will just not make sense for you.
My advice is to stick
with plans that have been known to work, and the most famous
one is the stair-step breakaway. Again, every company
that uses this plan has their own variation, but the
companies that have been around the longest (including
Amway, Nature's Sunshine, and AIM) all use the stair-step
breakaway. I will discuss the AIM plan on another page
in more detail, but it is important to note that AIM has
chosen to use a plan that is a proven winner instead of a
current fad.
Though there a few MLM companies that I
could recommend, I strongly believe that AIM is the best
opportunity available at the moment. However, it is
important to have the right sponsor, and that is what I will
discuss on the next page.
